SafetyBook.org Analysis — 22 Million Recalled Products, Two Reissued Recalls Demonstrate Ongoing Safety Concerns So Far in 2011

gI 86144 11186 SafetyBook.org Analysis 22 Million Recalled Products, Two Reissued Recalls Demonstrate Ongoing Safety Concerns So Far in 2011
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 07, 2011

According to SafetyBook.org, a consumer product registry and safety monitoring service, more than 11 million products were recalled during the second quarter of 2011, including over 2 million (or 19 percent) directly threatening the safety and well-being of American children. These figures bring the total number of consumer product recalls for the first half of 2011 to 176, including more than 22 million products. About 5 million or 23 percent were deemed a direct threat to children, including two noteworthy reissued recalls due to ongoing deaths or injuries.

Additionally, 117 motor vehicle recalls were issued between April 1st and June 30th, representing more than 2.4 million vehicles. Approximately 6.8 million motor vehicles have been recalled so far during 2011.

Notably, two major recalls have been reissued already during 2011. Delta Enterprise Corp. reissued a 2008 recall of nearly 1 million drop-side cribs due to the death of a 7-month-old girl in Colorado Springs, Colo. Likewise, Maclaren USA, Inc. reissued a prior recall of about 1 million single and double umbrella strollers recalled in November 2009, due to ongoing fingertip amputations and lacerations.

Few people realize the volume of safety recalls that jeopardize the well-being of our families and children every month, said Dan Verakis, founder and CEO of SafetyBook.org. Reissued recalls are especially disturbing because it means people arent getting notified, millions of dangerous products remain in homes, and children get harmed as a result. Clearly, a product recall is a defective process.

SafetyBook provides a product recall monitoring service to consumers who use the companys simple registration process at http://www.safetybook.org. The companys analysis of consumer product and vehicle safety recalls includes data compiled from government regulators, including the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the National Highway Transportation Safety Authority (NHTSA).

Any way to find out what the 2008 Toyota Highlander lease is going to be NEXT month?

Question by »-(¯`v´¯)-» ?a??’s ?ifee: Any way to find out what the 2008 Toyota Highlander lease is going to be NEXT month?
I live in California and my husband is looking at leasing a 2008 Toyota Highlander .. right now the lease ‘special’ is $ 289 a month (which I don’t think is a ‘special’. .. I think it’s a regular rate)
anyway, the lease ‘special’ is good until March 4th and then the new lease option is coming out.
Is there any way to find out what the lease option is going to be on March 4th?
We contacted our local Toyota dealer and they said they have no way to know.
Anyone out there work for Toyota and have an inside on what the upcoming lease option is??

Also, can you NEGOTIATE a lease option? or is it set in stone by Toyota?

(we don’t have a trade in or anything .. my husband is currently leasing a 2006 Ford F1-50 and the lease is up in April and he’s looking at leasing an SUV) .. so we don’t have any trade in value or anything to worry about.

Best answer:

Answer by cervical spine
FYI the dealers are kept in the dark by Toyota if they sell enough specials this month the special is over and no Toyota does not let dealer deal down off special that s why they call it a special

What do you think? Answer below!

Is it necessary to have a 4 wheel drive driving from Austin Tx to Boulder Colorado during the Xmas holidays?

Question by : Is it necessary to have a 4 wheel drive driving from Austin Tx to Boulder Colorado during the Xmas holidays?
I have a 2007 Toyota RAV4 SUV with Front-wheel drive. Do you think that is ok?

Best answer:

Answer by Ryan
Yes, youll be on interstates and highways for the most part. Those are cleared first. A fwd car is much better than a rwd in snow and ice. A 4×4 is probably unnecessary unless your planning on doing alot of back road and rural driving. The best thing is to be prepared in case of a major storm. Water, food, blankets, first aid, etc. I would definately have your vehicle tuned up and looked over before leaving.
